Summary
For the eleven-year-old Philipp (KARL ALEXANDER SEIDEL), also known as Lippel, Passau in Bavaria and the mysterious Orient are not so far away from one another. He just has to lie in his bed at night and Lippel is already dreaming of that exciting place. This is his escape from the everyday small skirmishes with the humourless and small minded housekeeper Miss Jakob (ANKE ENGELKE). She is looking after him because his father (MORITZ BLEIBTREU) is away on business. In Lippel's oriental fairytale world his father turns into a lovable but procrastinating king who is helpless against his intriguing sister-in-law Miss Jakob. She is trying mercilessly to get his children - Lippel's new schoolmates Hamide (AMRITA CHEEMA) and Arslan (STEVE-MARVIN DWUMAH) out of the way. Lippel experiences the most fantastic adventures whilst he is hurrying to the aid of the royal brother and sister. In real life he succeeds with the help of his dreams and two friends to drive Miss Jakob out of the house and rescue his dog Muck. Lippel's stories are like those from 1001 Nights - long live the power of imagination!
